EXPRESS ENTRY PROGRAM

Express Entry is an online system designed by the federal government that manage applications and selection of economic candidates intending to live outside of the Province of Québec. There are three categories:

Candidates must already have work experience inside or outside Canada, and need to obtain at least 67 points (out of 100) based on these factors: age, education, work experience, validated job offer, ability to speak English and/or French, adaptability (how well the candidate is likely to settle in Canada).

The minimum requirements are: Have a valid job offer of full-time employment (or have a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade), meet the required language levels, and have at least 2 years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade (within the 5 years before the application).

Candidates must meet the required language levels and have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada (a total of 1560 hours), obtained within the 3 years before the application.

The Quebec-selected skilled worker program selects candidates inside or outside Canada who used the ARRIMA platform to submit an « expression of interest » and who then received an invitation to apply for a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ).

Sponsorship and Family reunification

Sponsorship programs allow Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor a family member under certain conditions (including having to sign an undertaking). If the application is approved, the sponsored family member becomes a permanent resident. Eligible family members that can be sponsored are

  • Spouse or partner
  • Dependent children
  • Parents and grandpartents
  • Other eligible members, under strict conditions
